DONALD VOSIKA Obituary


Donald J. Vosika, 86, passed peacefully in his home on April 14, 2013. He was born January 24, 1927 in Olivia, Minnesota. Don served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Later he worked as a car mechanic, owned a gas station in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, and became a heavy equipment engineer at Cape Canaveral in Florida. Don was a farmer for 11 years in Minnesota and later built homes in Florida as a carpenter. He was an appliance technician at New Smyrna Sheet Metal before retiring. Don is predeceased by Kathryn, his wife of 48 years, and his son, Michael. He is survived by his son, Donald C. Vosika and his wife Cheryl; and his devoted daughter, Mary K. Vosika. Don also leaves behind a loving granddaughter, Kim Hoover and her husband Shaun; and two great-grandsons, Justin and Landon Burrell. Don's wonderful family and friends live throughout Minnesota and Florida. Don was a devout Catholic who enjoyed carpentry, auto mechanics, traveling, and spending time with his family. Friends are invited to attend a gathering in his memory from 5:00-7:00 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 17) at Settle-Wilder Chapel, New Smyrna Beach. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 998 Father Donlon Drive, New Smyrna Beach. Entombment will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, 3001 S. US Hwy 1, Edgewater. Condolences may be made online at www.settlewilderfuneralhome.com
