Fritz Schindewolf Obituary

After a short illness, Mr. Schindewolf died at home in Palm Coast on Wednesday morning, June 8, 2005, with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth; their two daughters, three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his younger sister and brother, their families and many many friends who loved him. Born in Kassel, Germany, Mr. Schindewolf moved to New York with his family in 1954. He worked hard and retired to Florida with his wife in 1998. A purveyor of obscure trivia, lover of crossword puzzles and interesting meats, Mr. Schindewolf was well-known for the occasional "goodie" and infamous for a slew of "stinkers." He was an intelligent man, good-hearted and as unique as one gets. Being a "minimalist," he thoroughly enjoyed doing NOTHING! Loved by many, his loss will leave a gap in all of our lives. Ein bisschen Gluck, ein bisschen Geld, was braucht man mehr auf dieser Welt?

Happy 96th! Really wish you were here to celebrate. Mom misses you too. She's been lost these last 20 years. Your calming influence has been sorely missed. I always knew you were a good person but never knew how good. I'm sorry for all the times I tested that goodness. You never treated me any different. A part of me wishes I had known because I do have questions. I hope you're not mad that I know now. You were the best father I could imagine. Thank you.

My condolences to the family on the passing of Fritz. Please look after Gary a bit while up in Heaven. It's been so many years - Way back when in the Terrace Apts. Fritz was a good person, and enjoyed his jokes anyway - You will be missed by so many - God bless you Fritz and God Bless those you left behind. (Renee Canfield)

My uncle was a funny man, his sense of humor was dry, yet he always seemed to make you laugh. When I was young my family would spend Christmas at his house, THE MOUSER" those memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. He was admired by so many. I will miss his stories and his jokes, yuk yuk. To you my uncle one "ATTABOY" and I hope you know that you are still with us in our hearts each and everyday. I know that you will be at my wedding in spirit in September.

You can go through life and meet thousands of people. They come and go, and sort of blend into each other. Then, there are those who stand out. You're not sure why, but you know they're special. Fritz was that sort of special for me. Always a smile, never an unkind word. A wonderful person to be around. Oh, what anyone would give to be remembered that way. Fritz, I'll miss you, your hearty laugh. I'll always remember you fondly eating sauerbraten at 5 Corners. Say "Hi" to my parents when you see them in heaven. My love and best wishes to Ruth.

The smartest, kindest man there has ever been in my life is gone and no one will ever take his place in my heart. Although I sometimes foolishly took him for granted thinking that he would always be there for me, he never waivered in his love and caring of me. I wish I had those moments back. I pray that he knew how much he was loved and that he knows how much I miss him.

This man will be missed. He was my grandfather and I have so many great memories of him. He was intelligent, kind, meticulous, had a horrible sense of humor and he was the only person I ever knew that gladly accepted a Fart-Machine as a gift - and then used it!

Damn it Pop-pop, I wasn't ready to lose you - but you will remembered always. When I came to see you last week you were lying in bed and raised your hands and said "I'm going to see Hilde", well, as she had died a month prior, you did. I know you are now at the gates of Heaven with Hilde, drinks in hand, telling St. Peter all kinds of jokes about him!

I love you.
