Gloria Johnson Obituary

Funeral Mass for Gloria Louise Williams Johnson will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 317 Mullally St., Daytona Beach, with the Rev. P. Vigny Bellerive officiating. Born July 31, 1924, in St. Augustine, she lived and attended St. Benedict the Moore Elementary School and graduated from Excelsior High School in 1942. Upon graduation, she moved to Baltimore, Md., and attended the Poro Beauty School. She moved back to St. Augustine and opened her own beauty shop. In 1949, she and her daughter moved to Minneapolis, Minn., and remained there until 1968. After the death of her stepfather, she and her daughter moved home to be with her mother, and in 1995, she moved to Daytona Beach. Mrs. Johnson held affiliations in the I.B.P.O.E. of W. (73 years), Order of Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho, Daughters of Isis, Catholic Daughters and NAACP. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother, Melanae M. Wilson Floyd, father, Clyde Dwight Williams and stepfather, James Thomas Floyd. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter, Gloriamelanae S. Dailey; grandson, Grady JaVonne Johnson Smith; granddaughter, Jherria De'Vonne Dailey; great-grandchildren; very special extended family, Rosemary, Pecola, Mamie, Brenda Gale, Cherri, Brenda, Lynn, Jackie, Mary, Curistine, Helen, Azalean, Paula, Annie Doris, Herbert, Solomon, cousins in St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Riviera Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Cleveland, Ohio, Minneapolis, Minn., New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Ga.; and a host of sorrowing friends.
