Harmon Leon Currin

Funeral service for Harmon Leon Currin, 80, North Peninsula Drive, Daytona Beach, who died Monday, June 6, 2005, at Florida Hospital, Ormond Memorial, will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill, with the Rev. Wiley Lowe officiating. Entombment will follow at Shady Rest Cemetery. Friends may call and pay their respects from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today (Thursday, June 9) at the funeral home. Mr. Currin formerly taught in the work experience program at Holly Hill Junior High. He was an Army veteran of World War II; the only survivor in his unit, he served in Patton's Army. Born in Carroll County, Tenn., he moved here from McKenzie, Tenn., in 1958. He was a teacher for 30 years in Volusia County and taught seven years in Brunswick, Ga. An avid duplicate bridge player, he was a member of the bridge club at Sica Hall. Mr. Currin enjoyed riding motorcycles, reading and traveling. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marjorie; three daughters, Bena Currin, Oakland, Calif., Carla van de Sande, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Julia Currin, Boston, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
