Jane Patterson Obituary

Jane Carpenter Patterson, age 86, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2018 to be with her Lord and Savior. She is survived by Kenneth, her husband of 59 years, and three children - Lisa Laclede of Dallas, TX, Mary Garrelts of Killingworth, CT, and David Patterson of Washington, DC. Also surviving Jane is her sister Cynthia Hill of Nashville, TN, her sister-in-law Martha Kline of No. Chili, NY, seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jane was born and raised in Middletown, NY, and graduated from Colby Junior College and St. Lawrence University. She continued her education, attaining a Master's Degree in Education from Cornell University. In addition to raising her family, she supported her communities by teaching elementary school, and helping families find the perfect home as a real estate agent. Throughout her adult life, Jane has been an active supporter of P.E.O Chapter EK. and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae organizations, empowering women through education and support. She could often be seen at one of her many volunteer activities around New Smyrna Beach, helping Coronado Boutique patrons discover a treasure, welcoming attendees to their seats at The Little Theater, and providing food to the home-bound through Meals On Wheels. As President of the Sugar Mill Country Club Ladies 18-Hole Golf Association, she blessed many through her friendliness and her initiation of the 2 Club program. To all who had the pleasure of knowing her, Jane was a vibrant and caring friend who could always draw a smile out of you. Memories of her engaging personality, love of life (especially fishing in Mosquito Lagoon), and enduring devotion to her family and the Lord will live on. A celebration of life will be held at Coronado Community United Methodist Church, 201 Peninsula Ave., New Smyrna, Fl., on November 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations supporting Halifax Hospice Care (www.halifaxhealth.org) in honor of Jane are welcomed.
