JEANNE DENNY Obituary

Jeanne Denny, 90, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2011. She was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on January 16, 1921 to Ralph and Florence Sarasy. Jeanne grew up and graduated from Janesville High School before moving to Columbia, Missouri where she graduated from Stephens College with a bachelor's degree. During her early career, Jeanne served as Secretary to the President, of "The Town Hall", a current affairs forum in New York City. It was the golden era of radio, and as Assistant Producer for, "America's Town Meeting of the Air" Jeanne orchestrated a series of radio programs that toured the nation and twelve cities on three continents. These programs were recognized with several awards including the Peabody Institute Award in 1950 and 1954. Jeanne was a patron of the arts and in her retirement ushered at Tanglewood in Massachusetts and volunteered as a docent at various Florida Museums. Her caring nature, elegance and style will be greatly missed by her extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George V. Denny Jr.; her sisters, Racine Foster and Bernice Hall. Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Lewis Sarasy of California; and her nephews, Brian and Graham Sarasy and Jeff Hall and their families. The family would like to give special thanks to Jeanne's care providers that sat by her side in her final days. A memorial celebration of Jeanne's life will be scheduled at a later date. A donation to either the American Cancer Society or the National Wildlife Federation in her honor would reflect Jeanne's concern for humanity and nature. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com Arrangements are under the careful direction of Baggett & Summers Funeral Home.
