John August Samuelson

John August Samuelson, born in Plattsburg, NY on August 13, 1920 to John Waldemar Samuelson and Edith Bombard Samuelson, passed away peacefully on Saturday at 94. John attended Plattsburg State Teachers College until he joined the Air Force during WWII. After the war, he graduated from the University of Miami. Athletic, he especially enjoying swimming and diving. During college, he was a lifeguard at Matheson Hammock in Coral Gables, where he met his wife, Marie Lamport. They married on June 26th, 1949. He served as president of the Florida Swimming Pool Assoc. and established Sunny Pools Co. in Miami. In 1973, he moved his family to Flagler County. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie; son, John James (Barbara), daughter, Lisa (Artie) Gardella and son, Eric. Grandchildren, Michelle Hull (Joe); Diane and Andrea Samuelson; Leana and Josiah Gardella; and Tyler Price. Great Grand-daughters, Micayla and Mackenzie Hull. He is meeting again in heaven with his daughter, Lynnea, who preceded him in her untimely death in 1977. One of the first members of Coastal Family Church, John was also instrumental in bringing the first Assembly of God church to Flagler Cty., was the first president of the newly chartered Flagler chapter of the Full Gospel Businessman's Fellowship International, as well as serving with the Lion's Club and the local DAV chapter. John made an impact on his community and in the lives of the many who love him. He will be missed.
