Johnny Allen "John" McNeeley

1948 - 2016

Johnny "John" Allen McNeeley, formerly of DeLand, FL and longtime resident of Sandy Springs, GA, died peacefully at home December 31, 2016 after a courageous battle with ALS. He was 68. Born on June 21, 1948 in Shawnee, TN to Maynard H. "Doc" McNeeley and Frances "Gerry" McNeeley, Johnny was reared in DeLand, Florida with siblings Ronnie, Roger, and Angie, a tight knit group. Voted "Wittiest" by his class of 1966 at DeLand High School, John lettered in 3 sports and this is also where he met his future bride, Gay DeRolph. John was pre-deceased by his parents, Maynard "Doc" and Frances "Gerry" McNeeley, his brother Ronald McNeeley, his niece Kristen McNeeley, and his son-in-law Hayden Blanchard. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gay DeRolph McNeeley, daughters Carey McNeeley Bewley (Christopher) and Shelly McNeeley Blanchard of Atlanta, GA and Marianne McNeeley Seel (Matthew) of Charleston, SC; siblings Roger McNeeley (Laurie) of Woodstock, GA, Angie McNeeley Kolsch (Dennis) of Cape Canaveral, FL, and sister-in-law Mary Kay McDonnell McNeeley of Orange City, FL; his three beloved grandchildren Aidan Bewley, Thomas Blanchard, and Ashton Bewley; five nephews, eight nieces and their children. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00am at Dunwoody Baptist Church chapel with visitation starting at 10:00am.
