Margaret McCollum Obituary
Holly Hill - Margaret Miles McCollum, 77, of Holly Hill, passed away peacefully June 24,2021 at Halifax Hospice Care Center Ormond surrounded by family. She was born June 22, 1944 in Lawtey, FL, and raised in Lake Butler, FL and moved to Daytona Beach area in the late 60's. In 1974, she married Bob McCollum and raised two daughters - Casey and Erin. Between 1982-1987, the family moved to Fresno, CA, where Margaret worked for her brother Carl's truck brokering business. Shortly after her return to Florida, she was hired as a secretary at Volusia County Schools Educational Development Center (EDC), ultimately retiring in 2011. She loved working, and she loved the departments and people she supported. After retirement, she had more opportunities to travel, including a cruise to Cuba, and a couple cross-country trips out West. She filled her days volunteering for the DAV and with Florida Health Care in Holly Hill. Margaret is survived by her brother Carl Miles, Arizona; sister Mary-Ann Merz, Ormond Beach; daughters, Casey L. Brown (Craig), Daytona Beach, Erin E. Singer (Brian), Jupiter; and grandchildren, Canyon, Ciara, Ella and Piper. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Gertrude Miles; her husband, James Robert "Bob" McCollum; and her sister, Faye Bennett. A celebration of life will be held July 9, 2021, 3 PM at Tomoka Christian Church in Ormond Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Margaret's name to Halifax Hospice.
