Maria Blanco Obituary

Maria Teresa (Tess) Blanco was born October 9, 1934 in Moaña, Pontevedra, Spain, daughter to María Garcia and Ramón Brea. She braved a new world at age 17 when she emigrated from Spain to South America and eventually to New York City where she met the love of her life, José Blanco, on the dance floor and later married in August of 1955. She soon after became a mother in 1956 with the birth of her son, José Carlos Blanco and again in 1960 when her beautiful daughter, Gloria MarBlanco was born. She fearlessly embarked on adventure after adventure around the country with her husband from New York to Arizona, to Boston, California and finally Florida. Everywhere she went making new friends, and leaving her beautiful spirit imprinted on others' hearts. She was the proud grandmother of seven and great grandmother of one. Tess lived more life than most anyone ever will, from her extensive travel to almost every continent, to her passionate expression of life in song, painting, and cooking, to her never ending outpouring of generosity and love towards her family and dearest friends. She passed away peacefully Sunday morning July 12, 2015. From childhood and throughout her life, Tess was a talented and passionate artist. Her seascapes still live and portraits adorn the walls of many of her family and friends' homes. She will always be remembered for her Spanish cooking, her dedication to her children and grandchildren, her fashion-sense, her incredible faith. She is survived by her two children, José Carlos Blanco and Gloria María Blanco; her grandchildren, Cristina Blanco, Amanda Silberman, Michelle Blanco, Tiffany Kelly, Daniel Blanco, Jordan Kelly, and Vanessa Kelly; and her great grandson, Asher Silberman. A service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints NSB Ward, located at 2 Fairgreen Avenue, New Smyrna Beach. Reception to follow. It's now 5 years since Mom passed away. My wife, children and I remember her everyday. When we hear certain songs, TV shows, food or places immediately bring a flood of memories of our wonderful times together. She was a wonderful Mother who was always in our corner, hugged us and literally devoted her life to our mutual happiness.

Her love story with my father, Jose, was a beautiful thing and helped propel us all through life,

Terry will always hold a special place in my heart, as will Joe, because they were my parents' closest friends, and the love and sunshine they brought to all who knew them will always be remembered.

Thank you, God , for blessing so many of us with Tess' artwork, love of family and her friends. Her children, grandchildren and family in the USA and Spain will all miss her beautiful smile, generous spirit and devotion to us all.
