Maye Davis Obituary

Maye B.Davis, 76, Daytona Beach, passed away Wednesday, August 12 at Halifax Medical Center. She was born on May 25, 1933 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Hazel and Frank Brantley. She was married to John G. Davis, and the couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 12. The couple lived in Daytona Beach for 15 years. Prior to Daytona Beach they enjoyed many years of happiness in Georgia and Texas. She was a graduate of Central High School of Phenix City. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Port Orange. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Throughout her life she has been a faithful servant in many church and civic organizations where she has made wonderful friends and been a joy to all. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband and her three daughters and their families: Cathy Gillespie, Dallas, Texas, her husband, Blake and daughters,Tatum and Caitlin; Ina Toms, Albertville, Alabama and her son, Brantley; and Ginny Muse, Marlow, Oklahoma, her husband, Travis and children, John David, Michael and Anna Beth. She is also survived by her identical twin, Faye Salem, Marble Falls, Texas and other family members whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bill Brantley of Sarasota, Florida. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 16 at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Ave. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 17 in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halifax Urban Ministries at P.O Box 6053, Daytona Beach, FL 32122, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange.
