Nancy Baker Obituary

Funeral service for Nancy Joanne Scudder Baker, 77, Edgewater, who died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at home, will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Settle-Wilder Chapel, New Smyrna Beach, with Pastor Darrell Marsh, United Pentecostal Church, officiating. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, at a later date. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Born in Dearborn County, Ind., Mrs. Baker, a factory worker for the defense department, came to this area in 1960 from Ross, Ohio. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Sanford, where she was involved in the deaf ministry and taught Sunday school. Mrs Baker was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, New Smyrna Beach, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, planning family functions, entertaining at home, and making photo and scrap books. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Jo Baker, Edgewater, and Paula Sparr, Ormond Beach; three sons, Clifton Baker, Titusville, John Baker, Orlando, and Ernie Baker, Palm Coast; one brother, Millard Scudder, Dillsboro, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, Dawn, Erin, Louella, Joel, John Jr., Joshua, Brodie, Katelynn, E.J., Brooke, Jason and Tisa; and 13 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Taylor, Madison, John IV, Dillon, Isabel, Mack, Hannah, Bethany, Carson, Aubrey, Noel and Zachary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Sr. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Nancy has a wonderful woman and a true soilder in God's army, she will truly be missed. To the family, look unto the hill for which cometh your help, your help comth from the Lord. God bless you all and my prayers are with each and everyone for you.
