Robert Hall Obituary

Funeral service for Robert C. Hall, Sr., 62, Galty Cir., Ormond Beach, who passed away July 2, 2007 at Florida Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 890 NW 15th Street, Pompano Beach, Fla., with Dr. Robert C. Stanley, Senior Pastor, officiating. Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Allen Chapel AME, Daytona Beach. Robert "Bobby" Hall, Sr., son of Isaac Sr. and Mollie Hall, of Ormond Beach, Florida, was called from his labors early Monday morning, July 2, 2007 at Florida Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, Fla. He was born November 22, 1944, in Daytona Beach, in the Halifax Colored Annex Hospital on Second Avenue. He attended Rigby Elementary School in Ormond Beach, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. In 1963 he graduated from Campbell Street High School where he continued to excel in athletics. He attended Florida A&M University, majoring in physical education. He was the recipient of a four year baseball scholarship. In 1964 he married the former Marva Ann Fletcher, of Daytona Beach, Florida. From the union two children were born, Kwanya A. Hall Martin(Kirk), of Atlanta, Ga. and Robert C. "SugarBear" Hall, Jr., of Pompano Beach, Fla. He has eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; two sisters, Vera Mae Hogan (Ernest) and Jeanette Carnes (Clarence); and four brothers, Isaac Hall (Mildred), James Hall (Evelyn), Arthur Hall and Benny Hall (Patricia). Also left to mourn are his sisters, Lillie Ruth Gibson, Margaret Marshall (Preston, Sr.) and Yvonne Wright (Earl), and brother "Jack" Hall (Jackie). In 1971 he embarked on his first teaching job, as a physical education teacher at Crystal Lake Middle School. He also taught at Pompano Beach Middle School and Sanders Park Elementary School. He coached baseball at Ely Senior High School. Coach Hall dedicated his life to teaching young people the art of baseball. He was and avid golfer, he loved to fish and work in his yard. Coach Hall was a friend to everybody. His philosophy of life should have been "If I can help somebody." He knew no strangers, and he worked with beggars and kings. He had a giving and loving heart and he was a devoted family man. Coach Hall loved the Lord. His former neighbor, Dr. Robert A. Stanley, is a witness to this fact. He was brought up in St. John Baptist Church in Ormond Beach. In Pompano he was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. In 2003, the Lord saw it fit for him to once again live in Ormond Beach. He and his wife Marva retired from education and moved to beautiful Halifax Plantation. Coach Bobby Hall will be missed by many. His life should serve as an inspiration to his children, his grandchildren, his many nieces and nephews, and the many students he has taught and coached. He leaves with them this legacy, "He who would be a friend, must show himself friendly."
