Vincent Keyes Obituary
Edgewater - Vincent R. Keyes, 89, Edgewater, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021. Mr. Keyes, a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, was born September 29, 1931 in Morristown, NJ and was the owner/operator of the Washington Bar in Morristown before retiring to Edgewater in 1991. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach and attended St. Gerard Mission Church, Edgewater. He was an avid golfer and worked at the cart barn for many years at Hidden Lakes Golf Club in New Smyrna Beach. Survivors include one son, Brian (Kacy) Keyes; two daughters, Marjorie and Laura Keyes; two brothers, Gerald (Jane) and Adrian (Rita) Keyes; three sisters, Mary and Anne Keyes and Theresa (Robert) Holtz; grandson, Matthew Keyes and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in the US and Ireland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Galvin Keyes; five brothers; one sister and his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. Burial will follow in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater where the American Legion Post #285, Edgewater, will conduct military honors. Memorial donations may be made to Halifax Health Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.

I had the great pleasure in knowing Mr. Keyes. He was a good friend to my uncle Bugs, and Big John Geraghty and a lot of others in Morristown. He was one of the people that made Morristown a better place.....Long live his memory, RIP!

I have very warm feelings about my brother-in-law, Vint. He and Janet were witness at our wedding in Massachusetts. Just before the wedding started, he and I were standing in the alcove near the altar and he said, "You know how it is with us Catholics, we only do this once. So if you have any doubts, now is the time to run". I am very glad that I didn't run.
