Hoyt Young Hoyt Young was born on December 28, 1925, on a farm between Macks Creek, Missouri and Climax Springs, Missouri, and departed this life on October 11, 2009, in Springfield, Missouri. He was the second son of John E and Iva (Crane) Young. Hoyt married Alberta Hollingsworth on June 13, 1948. They were blessed with four children. After twenty-five years of happy marriage, Alberta's life was taken in a tragic fire. Hoyt and Bonnie Stoufer Hunt, along with Bonnie's daughter, Dee Anne and Jim Bremer, were married in a double wedding ceremony on January 3, 1985, in Enid, Oklahoma, in the home of Bonnie's daughter, Sue. Hoyt is survived by one son, John A. Young and his companion, Vickie McGraw of Tunas, Missouri; and three daughters, Jan A Clark of Rogers, Arkansas, Sharon L. Cyrus and her husband, Dale of Springfield, Missouri, and Sarah R. Young of Marana, Arizona; his brother Von Young and wife, Margaret of Macks Creek, Missouri; three step-daughters, Dee Ann Bremer and her husband, Jim of Springfield, Connie Dickinson of Peculiar, and Sue Wham and her husband, Wade of Eufaula, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Missy, Jenny, John, JoAnn and Tammy; five great-grandchildren; one niece; and five nephews. In addition he is survived by Kassidi Bremer, who came to Jim and Dee Anne after Hoyt and Bonnie were married and so she has always been their grandchild. Hoyt was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-four years, Bonnie; his parents, John and Iva; and his brother, Ethan Young, who was killed in the Philippines in World War II. Hoyt was saved at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church when he was five years old. He and Bonnie joined Macks Creek Baptist Church together in the 1980s. He graduated from Hickory Grove Grade School in 1939, Macks Creek High School in 1943, and Drury College in 1954. Hoyt served Bank of Macks Creek as an employee, director and officer for a total of 62 years, retiring in 2008, at age 82. He served as a rural letter carrier for 38 years at the Macks Creek Post office. As a licensed real estate broker, he operated Hoyt Young Realty for 30 years, and was a licensed insurance agent for 20 years. He also operated a calf farm for 40 years. Hoyt served in the U.S. Navy for over two years in World War II. This included the invasion of Okinawa. He joined the Macks Creek Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star in 1950, and remained a member until his death. Hoyt also served on many community and civic organizations. Being civic minded, he never missed voting in any election from the time he became eligible to do so. Hoyt loved sports and continued to play basketball competitively until his forties. He was known for his quick wit and analytical mind, love of story telling and extensive genealogical research. Hoyt shall be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at 11 a.m., in Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, in Macks Creek, Missouri. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14 from 6 8 p.m., in the funeral home. Interment will be in Macks Creek Cemetery, Macks Creek, Missouri.
