JoAnn Wiksten Obituary
St. Joseph - JoAnn (Herring) Wiksten, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri, went to be with the Lord July 26, 2018.
She was born February 5, 1930 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Charles R. and Irene E. (Richardson) Herring.
JoAnn had a varied business career. She was employed by Seaman and Schuski Metal Works, Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri, Black Hill Light & Power Company, Rapid City, South Dakota, Aetna Life Insurance, Springfield, Missouri. She retired as officer manager of New York Life Insurance after 29 years of service.
JoAnn accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 9 and was a member of Second Baptist Church. She moved back to St. Joseph January 1, 2018 and she was a member of New Home Baptist Church. JoAnn was a fan of the Lady Bears basketball team. She volunteered at St. John's Hospital for 19 years and also volunteered at the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. JoAnn loved her pontoon and fishing on Table Rock Lake. She traveled all over the states and Europe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dick Herring; and an infant sister.
Survivors include her sister, Kay Ezzell (Wayne); nieces, Lorrie Hudson, Julie Elliott (Randy); nephew, Zack Ezzell (Dawn); great-nieces, Lynsey Silvey, Shelbey Hudson, Ash Cornelius, Hannah Delaney, Kenzie Denning, Samantha Reynolds, Jenni Cline, Sarah Johnson, Kaitlyn Ezzell, Carley Ezzell, Cydney Ezzell; great-nephews, Hunter Ezzell, Ben Elliot; 14 great-great nieces and nephews.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
