Juanita Lane Obituary

Juanita Lane, 88, of Seymour, Mo., passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, in Glenwood Healthcare, in Seymour, Mo. She was born in Seymour, Mo., on January 4, 1921, to Ira V. and Hulda Ann (Foster) Farr. On October 28, 1945, she was united in marriage to Dwight Louis Lane and to this union two children were born. Dwight preceded her in death January 14, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Juanita is survived by her children, Janice Shumate and husband, Derald of Springfield, Mo., and Jerry Lane and wife, Linda of Republic, Mo.; four granddaughters, Lisa McReynolds and husband, Tony, Dena Mayberry, Terri Helms and husband, Jeff, and Carmen Hodson and husband, David; 10 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Sloan and husband, Robert of Springfield, Mo.; a special friend, Vesta Kasterke; her caregiver, Emma Overholt, both of Seymour, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host other relatives and many friends. She was a 1939 graduate of Seymour High School and had attended State Teachers College in Springfield. She then began teaching in the rural one-room schools of Davis, Bethel, Gentry and New Hope, before deciding to become a full-time homemaker to her family. She had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Diggins Baptist Church in Diggins, where she had served as church clerk and worked in Bible School for many years. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home, in Seymour, with Rev's Gary Dedmon and Derald Shumate officiating. Burial will be in Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Diggins Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 366, Seymour, MO 65746. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Glenwood Healthcare Staff and Preferred Hospice of Missouri for the wonderful care given to their beloved mother, grandmother and sister.
