Battlefield, MO - Katherine "Kathy" Irene Machala, 66, of Battlefield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021, with her family by her side.

She was born in Greeley, Colorado, the daughter of Douglas and Patricia (Pratt) Doke, who preceded her in death.

Kathy worked as a respiratory therapist, with compassion and care, for 28 years. She was a devoted wife and stepmother. She loved camping, traveling, and playing cards with family and friends. She was an animal lover and an avid reader.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Robert Machala, Jr; two stepsons, Christopher Machala and wife Kate and Johnathan Bryan and wife Ruth; one granddaughter, Elena Bryan; and two sisters, Kelly Bauman and Diana Hough and husband Gary.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. There will be a Celebration of Life Service immediately following at 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to C.A.R.E. Animal Shelter, 1328 W Sunshine St. Springfield, MO 65807.

Her care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Ltd., DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.

Kathy was such a sweet person. I worked with Kathy for years on nightshift at Cox South. I hated to hear of her passing. I know she will be missed. We had alot of laughs together and I will always remember her caring Heart for others.

So sorry for your loss. Loved Kathy. Worked with her for years at Cox and she helped me out innumerable times when I had patients in crisis. She was an amazing friend and co-worker.
