Lodema Isabel (Anderson) Hardie
Lodema Isabel (Anderson) Hardie, of Springfield, passed away on May 28, 2011, at the age of 88. She was born in Springfield on September 24, 1922, the youngest of three daughters born to George Henry and Della Florence (Dodd) Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leroy (Bob) Hardie, her parents, and sisters, Alta Marie Cummins and Zella Mae Murphy; and two nephews.
She attended Senior High in Springfield, graduating in 1940. On June 23, 1941, Lodema married the love of her life, Robert Leroy (Bob) Hardie, in Pensacola, Florida, where Bob was stationed with the United States Navy. When Bob was shipped overseas to serve our nation in World War II, Lodema returned to Springfield to be closer to her family and give birth to their first daughter. In 1946, when the war ended, Bob returned to Springfield to join his beautiful wife and daughter where they had two more children, a son and another daughter. Their home was always the place where all the neighborhood children came to play or to just sit on the porch in the evening and listen to stories. Lodema always had the most beautiful flowers and sweetest smelling roses in the neighborhood. Bob preceded Lodema in death on July 7, 1986, and they are now together again forever.
Lodema is survived by their three children, Carolyn S. Iseman Oxford of Springfield, Robert Leroy Hardie, Jr., and wife, Karen, of Brookline, and Julie M. Stevens and husband, Larry, of Marshfield; Lodema was "WoWo" to her grandchildren, Teresa (Teri) Lynn Spoon and husband Tim, of Willard; Catherine (Cathy) Marie Havens and husband John, of Willard; Trudy Isabel Hardie, Jenny Darlene Hardie, Cassie Alison Lynch and husband Jonathan, Betsy Dyer and husband Rob, Laredo Stevens and wife Whitney; Portland Lloyd and Cheyenne Lloyd-Willis; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Diane Spoon and Jarid Taylor Spoon; Hannah, Carter and Haley Havens; Madison and Emerald Lloyd-Willis; Magnolia Lloyd; and Sage Hardie; and one great-great-granddaughter, Briana Lynn Spoon. She is also survived by her niece, Pat Renetzky, and nephews, Harry Sackrider and Eugene Richardson of California.
At the request of the deceased there will not be a visitation of formal service. Graveside services will be held at Eastlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., with North Point Church officiating. Music will be provided by Laredo and Larry Stevens. Burial has been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "Isabel's House, Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks", "A Sporting Chance", "Community Blood Center of the Ozarks", or to the charity of the donor's choice.
