Monte Ruby

Monte Ruby, 62, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Monte was born April 17, 1946, in Springfield, Mo., to Monte Weddle and Dorothy Eugene Ruby. He graduated from Central High School in 1964. In 1976, he was employed with Springfield Public Schools. Later, Monte was a reserve police officer in 1974. Afterwards, in 1992, he went to OTC to pursue a career as a security officer and in 1993, became a security officer with Cox. He married Lennie Lee in 1968, who survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Camille Ruby. In addition to his wife, Monte is survived by his son, Brian Ruby and wife, Melissa of Bryant, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jalyn Williams and Dylon Ruby; one brother, William Avery of the state of Illinois; one sister, Karolyn Young and her husband, Richard of Springfield, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Betty Lee of Springfield; brothers-in-law, Jerry Lee, James Lee, Byron Lee, Steve Lee and Henry Lee; sister-in-law Taleta Warner; and several nieces, nephews and special friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to the Cox Heath Foundation, 2414 S. National, Springfield, MO 65807. A special thank you is extended to the Cox family for the extra special care and love given to Monte and our entire family. Visitation will be in Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, on Sunday, August 10, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, August 11, 2008, at 2 p.m., in the Glendale High School Auditorium, 2727 S.
