Peter Flood Obituary

Peter Allen Flood

No one has ever embraced the beauty and adventure of life quite the same way as Pete Flood. A man with a resounding voice heard by many and all, there is no shortage of stories that you could hear from someone about Pete that did not involve laughter of the greatest variety. To have met him is to have fallen in love with him. You already know that he was the captain of his own ship, sailing into adventures the way that Ahab would, with deliberate and reckless abandon with his wife, Teresa and his daughter, Tess at his side. The "Three Musketeers".

Pete's story began in Benton Harbor, Michigan on June 17, 1959 with his parents: James (deceased) and Joann Flood; and four siblings: Mike Flood, Liz (Rippee), Chris Flood, and Jill (Hoersten). From there, the adventures abound. His charisma drew many to him and he charmed his way in to the hearts of many more. Let's be honest - if you are reading this obituary, it is because you knew him and had a great affinity, or at least the utmost respect for the man.

By summer, you could find him with his family at Table Rock Lake. It was a favorite place to throw a party, cruise out on the pontoon, or just float and laugh. The end of summer hopefully meant Burning Man in Black Rock City, Nevada (a place we all call "Home"). By fall through the spring, he made it his mission to watch as many sports games as he possibly could - never missing an opportunity to win a $1.50 bet from his people. And while his travels took him far and wide, including to Angelfire to visit his best friend Kevy, or to Nacogdoches to visit with his in-laws, Lucy and Jerry Hinkle, or out seeking new adventures in Mexico or some other random, beautiful place, he always found his way home to Springfield, Missouri.

Bottom line: he was a man in love with his life, family, and friends. We loved him.

"Every man dies. Not every man truly lives."

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2017, at 5:00 PM at the Sunset Cove Clubhouse at 172 Sunset Cove, Branson, MO. The family asks that everyone wear a Hawaiian shirt if at all possible.

Pete will have a place in our heart. From the time he was born he was bigger than life, one of those special you can never forget You could talk to Pete for an hour and never say a word All who knew him loved him He had the joy of life and amazingly shared it with one and all. Every time we look at his picture we have to smile, a wonderful gift few people have. Am sure he brings that same joy to his father in heaven.

Love to all Pete,s family.

Aunt Jo, Mike, Liz, Chris, Jill, Teresa, Tess and family,

I remember a booming voice, a huge smile, lots of fun, and late nights! Most of all I remember our teen years going to Detroit to visit; grandpa and grandma's house and the baseball games and that field that seemed to go on forever, family reunions that had a cast of hundreds, and lots of food, family and fun!

I can only imagine that heaven just got a lot more fun up there, and one heck of a lot louder!!

Chris, Hannah, Audrey and my thoughts are with you all and we love you very much.
