Sarah McGilvry Obituary

"Mom Mac" Born Jan. 13, 1916 Died Dec. 30, 2005 Sarah Pearl McGilvry was born to Luther and Rhoda Appleby Mitchell in Willard, Mo. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 30, 2005, at the age of 89. Pearl is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Smith, Margaret Boles, and Ruthie Welty their husbands, Wesley Smith, Joe Bill Boles, and Steve Welty Sr. nine grandchildren, Ruth Ann Moore Hawkins, Willis Moore, Dana Tindell, Sarah Hemphill, Jody Boles, Stephanie Glissen, Stephen Welty Jr., Tina Herzing, Cheryl Welty and 21 great-grandchildren. Her brother, Carl Mitchell, also survives her, as does her brothers-in-law, Herman McGilvry and Thomas Spivey sisters-in-law, Irene Mitchell and Helen Mitchell. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold sisters, Mary Ross, Elsie Spivey, Alma Carroll, and Marjorie Lee and her brothers, Boyd Mitchell and Sam Mitchell. Pearl shared her faith in God with her family and the student nurses whose lives she touched. She has left a legacy of Christian faith and service that is greatly admired and respected by all who knew her. She was an active member of Boulevard Baptist Church. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant...Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Matthew 25:21. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cox Health Foundation, in her name, for the establishment of a nursing scholarship in her memory. The family also expresses thanks to the staff of Greene Haven Nursing Home and Hospice for their care of Pearl. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial in Eastlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
