Herman Leon Brummett, 91 of Fort Myers died Monday, December 3, 2012. He had been a resident of Fort Myers since 1996 coming from Peoria, IL. Herman was born July 26, 1921 in Tulsa, OK the son of the late William and Ruth (Rogers) Brummett. Mr. Brummett worked for Sun Oil Company in Tulsa for 20 years before moving to Peoria, IL where he owned and operated Apollo Oil Company until the time of his retirement in 1986. Herman was an avid golfer who enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. He was a member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church and the Estero Country Club at The Vines. Herman is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Mary E. (Costello) Brummett; children, Sherron (Steve) Barnes of Houston, TX, Greg Griffith of Memphis, TX, Peggy Griffith of Atlanta, GA, John (Jennifer) Dougherty of Orlando, FL, Kelly Ford of Springfield, IL Lisa Patterson of St. Louis, MO; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church, 19680 Cypress View Dr., Ft Myers, FL 33967. Burial will immediately follow in the church memorial garden. Memorial contributions may be made in Herman's name to Our Lady of Light Catholic Church.

Every year at this time I remember Uncle Herman sending a case of grapefruit to my parents ( his brother William ) They were alway pink grapefruit and were delicious )))

Herman always made me smile. I will never forget him taking pictures from behind the bushes at our wedding. I bought ruby red grapefruit yesterday in his memory. God's peace to Mary Beth and family.

I will always remember Uncle Herman as a man who enjoyed life, and had a wonderful sense of humor. I had a fun time with him in Tulsa OK. After my father's passing ( William Albert, Jr),we would talk on the phone about business issues. He would send our family a case of Florida Pink Grapefruit ever Christmas.
