Jacki came to the LCLS at a time of great change and growth. Her leadership made all the difference in our ability to provide excellent service to our patrons. But more importantly, she led with grace, humor and class. She will be missed by all who knew her.

The 80's and 90's at LCLS was an exciting time, a pioneering time, a great time to be a librarian. Working with Jackie, Dorothy, Lex, and many others who still gather today for lunch, was not to be missed. All of us will miss Jackie, however, for being herself, most of all.

Jacki was a terrific role model and trailblazer. When we worked together at MDPLS I always held her opinions and advice in the highest regard. She encouraged me, and many others, to be our best. I remember her as a staunch advocate of women's rights, a leader in the profession, and a friend with a wicked-good sense of humor. Her recommendations for books to read or films to see always hit the mark. Jacki's wit and intelligence made her a pleasure to work for and work with. When she and Al moved to Ft. Myers, she was greatly missed in Miami. One thing that always struck me was how she valued and truly enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. She enjoyed the company of her kids, and respected you as unique individuals. I was so happy to read that her final years were filled with so many grandchildren; I'll bet she appreciated each one for being special in a different way. I can picture her reading and telling stories to adoring grandchildren. I hope their memories of grandma give you lots of comfort during these difficult days.

My memory of Jacki is strong yet gentle, firm yet kind. I send my deepest sympathy to her children and grandchildren for the loss of their loved one. Her strength will carry on through all of you.

A picture of Jacki should be in the dictionary next to the word mentor. She encouraged everyone who worked for her, and I have her to thank for pushing me to finish school and become a librarian.

Jacki Dick hired me from Portland Oregon in 1987 and was a mentor, supervisor and friend. She will be missed.

Twenty –five years of memories, some in the library and some at happy hour, cannot be condensed to one sentence or paragraph. Jacki was a co-worker, advisor, fellow library lover, and so much more. We will miss her.
