Jane Cole Obituary
Fort Myers - Jane Blake Cole of Fort Myers, Florida went to be with her Lord on October 12 at age 86, after two weeks spent in the company of her loving children and friends. Born on March 17, 1934, she was the daughter of Preston and Emily (Rabon) Blake of Norfolk, Virginia.
Jane attended Maury High School and graduated from Longwood College in 1956 with a degree in education. Over the course of her life she taught elementary school, raised four children, and founded and operated a small business. Jane married Bill Cole on August 2, 1972. They resided in Virginia Beach for 37 years, and together they traveled to bluegrass festivals and spent many happy winters in Kauai. After Bill passed away in 2009, Jane moved to Shell Point in Fort Myers.
Above all, Jane took joy in her faith and loved the Lord with all her heart. In Virginia Beach Jane was a member of Spring Branch Community Church; once in Fort Myers she joined Sanibel Community Church where she touched and inspired her many friends.
Jane is predeceased by her husband Bill. She is survived by children Bill Cole of Virginia Beach; Laura Hedrick (Steve) of Winter Garden, Florida; Susan Lawrence (Jean) of Lake Ridge, Virginia; and Maggie Phillips (Rob) of Virginia Beach; and by grandchildren Steven, Robby (Anna Lee), and Tyler; and great-grandson Blake.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10 at Sanibel Community Church. Jane will be interred with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sanibel Community Church at 1740 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL 33957 and Hope Hospice at 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.

Jane was walking sonshine. The love of Christ beautifully flowed in her, through her and around her. She will always be one of my heroes of the Faith.

Jane was one of the first people I met at Spring Branch. She was such a warm welcoming person. She helped me get involved at
SBCC and we were both members of the prayer team. A special Christian woman. I was blessed to have had time with her!

I met Jane at Sanibel community church when I went up for prayer for my family several years ago. She prayed fervently for my family and especially my granddaughter. Whenever I would see her, she always said “How is Courtney? I have been praying for her!” What a joy she was to me!!
