Robert Weygand Obituary


Obituary

Robert Weygand, 97, of North Fort Myers, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 1998. Born in Taunton, Mass., he had moved to North Fort Myers in 1967 from East Providence, R.I.

He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Fort Myers, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union in Rhode Island, and a member of the International Brotherhood of Musicians Union in Taunton, Mass. Mr. Weygand played both clarinet and saxophone in the Charles Weygand Orchestra at the Cresent Park Ballroom in Riverside, R.I., for 25 years.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, I. Dorothy Weygand of North Fort Myers; several nieces and nephews, among them, Congressman Robert A. Weygand of Rhode Island and Professor George Weygand of Bridgewater, Mass. Mr. Weygand is predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Memorial Funeral Home, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. during the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday in St. Francis Xavier Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date in Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church, 2157 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901.
