SCOTT SCHULTZ Obituary

Scott Duncan Schultz, 24 died suddenly on July 30, 2012 in Studio City, California. Scott was born June 14 (Flag Day), 1988 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Dr. Carl Schultz and Dana Schubert Schultz., all from Cedar Rapids. Scott is survived by his parents, a brother and his wife, David and Kerri Schultz Everett, Washington, Aunt Susan Schultz Milden and Dr. Gary Milden of Cedar Rapids and cousins Dr. Katie Milden Schroder and her husband John Schroder and Molly Milden, all from Cedar Rapids. Scott is also survived by Uncles Rick and Brad Schubert and Aunt Jill Schubert and Cousins Libby O'Connell and Sally Bauer, all from Minneapolis. Scott leaves behind his college sweetheart, Michelle Arguelles of San Francisco. Scott was making plans to move to San Francisco this month to be closer to Michelle. Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tatsie and Dutch Schultz and Betty and Bob Schubert.
Scott lived in Dubuque and Bettendorf before moving with his family to Sanibel, Florida in kindergarten. He attended Canterbury High School in Fort Myers and graduated last year from Boston College. Scott was an avid reader and gifted writer. He would buy a Harry Potter book at midnight and have it finished by noon. As senior class president, instead of reading a graduation speech he wrote a poem. He wrote and produced a film at Boston which took first place in competition. He also played clarinet in his high school band. He had a passion for roller coasters and Disney parks. Scott had a quick wit and would often do eccentric things to the amusement of his colleagues, such as dressing up with a friend as the Broke Back Cowboys to attend a high school Sadie Hawkins dance. A celebration of Scott's life will be held Tuesday August 7 at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Celebrant Julie Freese of Cedar Memorial officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery next to his grandmother. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday August 6th.

To Dana, Carl and all the members of Scott's family,
I had the privilege of having Scott work in my law office in the summer of 2008 at the same time as my daughter, Elise (2/10/1989 - 10/16/2010). I truly understand your pain. Know that God will give you the strength to navigate around the deep holes in your hearts. He was a wonderful young man. Please feel free to contact me at any time. You have been in my thoughts and prayers, since I saw the obit in The River District News.

Thanks to all of you who've written. Dana and I have been to Los Angeles and Cedar Rapids over the past week. We just returned today (Saturday). I have read that this is the most painful loss a person can suffer, and I believe it.
