Oh Dear, 15 years you have been gone from our earthly world and spending your glory years in Heaven. Your smiling face and laughter I can still hear and see when I think of you often. Just this week my son Jerome and I were speaking of you and the memories we had of you in Florida many years ago. I told him that if only Tommie (my son's Godfather) could see him now, how proud he would be of him. Miss you Tommie as I am sure your family does every single day! I was proud to have known you. Thank you for being there for me and for all the wonderful memories.

I just found out today about Tommie passing. He was the GOD father to my son Jerome Reginald Hill. I met Tommie over 27 years ago when he was part of a semi pro team. I worked with him at Gulfcoast (Sunland Center), I was in his wedding to Tracy, he was a great person who touched everyone he ever came into contact in differents ways. Those ways were always good too. I moved from that area many years ago, but always contacted Tommie in some way off and on, not near as much as I should have. I truly will grieve along with everyone else. He was loved by me like a brother, mentor, best friend. Thank you to his mother for showing him how to be such a great person. I remember his family well. I knew many of the members of his family also. God Bless each of you. I truly am sorry I did not know earlier, I would have been there to send him off to heaven. Thank you Tommie the III for letting me know.

Tommy was a great friend, mentor, and leader in the community. He set the example that has led my family and I on acheiveing great rewares. He provided financial guildance insights concerning home buying, investments, and african american community growth. Tommy would always say to me, " The yard around your house flex you concern about your community." He will be great missed by me and my family. Our blessing to his immediate families and dear friends (which he had many).

Tommie (affectionatley know to us as "Blip") was a member of the Dunbar High School Class of 1969. Recently, Tommie spoke to a classmate and was very interested in attending our 40th Class Reunion which will commemorate June 5th-7th, 2009. But The LORD had other plans for him to attend that Ultimate Reunion. Tommie one day we will celebrate with you at that Ultimate Reunion with our LORD and SAVIOUR.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
To everything there is season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.

We the DHS Class of 1969 extend our deepest sympathy to the Battle Family.

To the Battle's family,
I had the opportunity of meeting Tommy when I was in middle school and he was a great man. He is the father of my cousin Dalvin and a father to my cousin Donoval. Just know that your husband, dad, son, or brother was an inspiration to all that he came in contact with.

Tommy will be truly missed physically. Spiritually, he is in a better place where weeping, pain, and sorrow no longer exists. Never forget his laughter, smile, ability to always lend a hand, and love for his family and friends.

May the God of peace bring you comfort.

With Love,
