ADOLPH HINSON

Adolph Hinson, 90, of Shawnee, Okla., passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, in Shawnee.
He was born on June 28, 1935, to Thomas and Venie (Hammond) Hinson in Fair Bluff, N.C.
Adolph spent his early years in Fair Bluff where he graduated from Fair Bluff High School. He then attended Campbell College in Buies, N.C, where he played basketball on scholarship. He received his Bachelor of Social Science degree from Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management.
Always a fierce competitor, he excelled in basketball and baseball. Adolph pitched for the Major League farm team, Chicago White Sox.
Adolph proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after 11 years of service. During his time of service, his passion for sports continued as he played basketball at Dyess Air Force Base in Texas and was tapped to play golf with his superiors.
He spent 28 years teaching elementary school in Anchorage, Alaska and upon retiring embarked on a life of farming for the next 26 years in Little, Okla.
He married Cherie Trousdale on October 13, 2019, at Hinson Farms in Little.
Adolph loved flying and piloted his own plane in Alaska for 32 years. He was an avid OU fan and enjoyed cheering the OU women's gymnastics team, football and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Adolph enjoyed traveling, visiting England, Greece, Italy, Germany, Australia, Hungary, Mexico and the beaches of Hawaii. He enjoyed boating and salmon fishing on the Kenai River, trout fishing on Lake Louise, showing horses, caring for his friends - two and four legged - and driving his tractor across farm fields and pastures.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Venie Hinson; former spouse, Kay Davis; sisters, Zellar Hinson, and Louvada Hinson; and brothers, Fratz "Bud" Hinson and Elisha Hinson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cherie Hinson of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Marnie and Dirk Starck of Eagle River, Alaska; grandson, Gavin Starck of Eagle River; niece, Fran (Hinson) and husband Patrick of Cary, N.C.; nephew, Thomas Dell Hinson and wife Bonnie of Castle Hayne, N.C.; great-nephew, Hunter Kirby, Raleigh, N.C.; great-nieces, Andrea Fitts, Dallas, Texas, Dakota Severe, Aspen, Colo., Kristin Miller, Cary; stepdaughter, Tracy Noerper and husband Rob, and their children, Ian Noerper and Christian Noerper, Nashville, Tenn.; former wife, Linda Griffin of Wickenburg, Ariz.; stepdaughters, Amanda (Trousdale) Oakes and husband Jason of Whittier, Calif., Bobbi Jean Trousdale of Tecumseh, Okla.; step-grandchildren, Bobby "Trae" Trousdale and wife Taylor, Oklahoma City, Okla., Damaris, Salt Lake City, Utah, Elias, Stella, Yihun Oakes, Whitter; first cousins, Johnny Whitehead, Judy Bowen, Edward Hammond, Mark Hammond, Phillip Blackwell, James Hammond, Jean Willis, Andy Hammond; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, October 17, 2025, with family gathering from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends and family at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Northridge Church of Christ with Paul Fletcher and Jason Oakes officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
