FOYE GENE CASH
Foye Gene Cash, 84, of Tecumseh, Okla., passed from this life Thursday, September 26, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
He was born November 16, 1939, in Wynnewood, Okla., to Thurman Clark and Frances Pauline (Christian) Cash.
Foye grew up in Wynnewood and graduated from Wynnewood schools in 1958. He attended Cameron University and East Central University where he finished his undergraduate degree, and then earned his Master's degree from University of Tulsa.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years and was honorably discharged. He joined the Army Reserve and served 24 years before he retired. During his time in the Army Reserve, he was deployed to the Persian Gulf during Desert Storm/Desert Shield.
Foye married Francine Marie Mayfield in 1984 in Oklahoma City.
He was a football coach for Holdenville Public Schools from 1968 to 1978. He also served as principal and athletic director at Holdenville from 1978 to 1981. He worked as a Landman for Getty Oil Company a few years before returning to public education. He was the high school principal at Dickson Public Schools for two years and principal and superintendent at Haskell Public Schools from 1988 and retired in 2002.
He enjoyed coaching his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He enjoyed working outdoors and on his land. Foye was a member of Highland Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda Dale Birch; and his brother, Jackie Durwood Cash. Survivors include wife Francine Cash of the home; son Todd Cash and Donna of Owasso, Okla., son Steve Cash and Summer of Tecumseh; stepson, Chris Mayfield and Traci of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Lindsay Draper, Taylor Owens, Ryan Cash, Gunner Cash, Jacob Cash, Dawson Cash, Logan Cash, Sawyer Cash, Shelby Trent, Aislinn Mayfield, Dillon Mayfield, and Bailey Mayfield; great-granchildren, Riley, Remi, Sadie, Maddox, Maddison, and McKinley; brother, Carl Cash of Wynnewood; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Services were at 1 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024, at Highland Church of Christ with Erick Henson officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
