MARY HOLDER Obituary

MARY HOLDER 12/04/1939 - 11/04/2025 Mary "Elaine" (Brooks) Holder passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Enid, Okla. Elaine was born December 4, 1939, in Maud, Okla., to Elmer and Edith (Odom) Brooks. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1957. On August 1, 1959, she married Kenneth Wayne Holder in Shawnee. Along with her husband, Kenneth, they owned and operated Holder T.V. and Appliance on West Highland Ave. in Shawnee from 1968 to 2005, before retiring. After retirement, Elaine went to work as a tax clerk for the Oklahoma Tax Commission. When she wasn't working, Elaine adored writing poetry. Some of her poems were recognized with various awards. Her artistic nature also came through her love of painting, with family displaying some of those paintings to this day. Survivors include her sons: Brian Holder and wife Debbie of Tomball, Texas, Dwight Holder and wife Kecia of Enid, Okla., Rodger Holder and wife Grace of Oklahoma City; sister: Alice May Bolt of Oklahoma City, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as many other beloved friends and family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, daughter Nancy Bass, as well as her siblings: Lee Brooks, Ethelda Chotia, Jimmie Brooks, and Joyce Bullock. Elaine's life will be celebrated with a memorial service to be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel with Pastor Mark Guinn officiating. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest with her husband Kenneth at Tecumseh Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral & Cremation Service, www.walkerfuneral.com.
