ROY COWAN 11/22/1957 - 10/11/2025 Roy Don Cowan, 67, died October 11, 2025, at his home in Harlingen, Texas. Roy was born November 22, 1957, in Shawnee, Okla., to Jerry and Alma Cowan. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Cowan, sister Cynthia Carol Cowan, grandparents Loupe and Ernestine Gravley (maternal) and Oliver (Juanita) Cowan and Esther Cory (paternal), and uncle Larry Fugit, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Alma and George Van Wagner, siblings Kelly Cowan, Lance Goddard and Jerel Cowan and their families, aunt Carol Gravley Fugit, beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and stepfamily. Roy attended school through high school but was disabled as a teen. He loved karate as a youngster, all kinds of music and playing his guitar. He was baptized at Wesley Methodist Church in Shawnee. No words are enough to thank Daniel and Maria Hayes who provided loving care and stability in a family atmosphere for Roy's final 13 years as well as Pat who fed and cared for him there and Hazy, the black lab who loved him too. Graveside services are set for Friday, October 24, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home, 1400 W.
