Walter Hamski passed away at the age of 107 on Sunday, August 24, 2025. He was born on March 21, 1918 in Duluth, MN to John and Rose (Wojtkowiak) Hamski. He attended Denfeld High School and married Joyce Peterson, his wife of 72 years, on June 12, 1942. He was in a medical division of the Army Air Corps, a member of Lions, Elks, VFW, and AMS, volunteered with The USO at the Houston airport, and participated in his neighborhood watch patrol. He enjoyed playing golf, socializing with friends, and cruising all over the world.
Walt is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raymond, his sisters Larayne (Milich) and Beatrice (Winkel), his wife Joyce, and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his daughter Barbara (Payne), grandsons David Peck and John Peck, six great grandchildren, a great-great grandson and nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of Friends will take place at McGill Click Funeral and Cremations on Hwy 72 in Loudon, TN between 12pm and 2pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to The USO.
