Marion Martin Obituary
Sherwood as most knew him was born on December 19, 1933, at Shipman, a son of the late Marion Martin and Nettie Ramsey Martin.
He was a retired employee of the DuPont in Waynesboro as a Finishing and Shipping Foremen and a musician whom loved his many musical instruments and entertaining at several locations and events with his band.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Thompson Martin; three half brothers, Ed, Cecil, and Jim; and two half sisters, Mallie and Mary.
He is survived by his caregiver and friend, Carolyn Knight of Keswick, Va.; 20 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, many other great great-nieces and nephews, many cousins; and also a special friend and musical companion, Dennis Wright.
A funeral service was held Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 1 p.m. graveside at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lovingston, with the Rev. Dwayne Martin officiating. The family received friends from 12 noon until time of services at the cemetery.
