Thomas "Henry" Fitzgerald III

Thomas "Henry" Fitzgerald III, 52, of Roseland, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022. Born in Lynchburg, on May 22, 1969, he was the son of Thomas Henry Fitzgerald Jr. and Donna Williams Fitzgerald.

Henry loved the Lord, his family, and anyone he crossed paths with.

Henry grew up working in a third-generation apple orchard that cultivated his love for growing crops. He started out growing specialty crops before earning his Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Virginia Tech. He returned to Nelson County to expand his operation. He raised pumpkins, corn, soybeans, sweet corn, and a host of other crops alongside his seven children. Henry loved working with his family and sharing the fruits of his labor with the community and beyond. He loved to enjoy God's creation through his occupation, frequent hikes in the mountains, and capturing nature's beauty. Henry explored history and geography by collecting arrowheads and antiques. He loved being surrounded by people and never met a stranger. Henry was always eager to lend a helping hand and give generously to meet the needs of others. His contagious smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents; his children, Thomas H. Fitzgerald IV (Shayna) and their children, Delilah M., Kinsley A., and Thomas H. Fitzgerald V, Lydia A. Fitzgerald, Benjamin M. Fitzgerald, Noah E. Fitzgerald (Corrine), Ruth D. Fitzgerald, Jacob R. Fitzgerald, and Candace V. Fitzgerald; the mother of his children, Emily V. Hobgood; his brother, Timothy "Brian" Fitzgerald (Elizabeth); his sister, Cynthia F. Torres (Humberto); his nephews, Jose, Tony, Jeffrey, Matthew, Keegan, and Geovanni; his nieces, Marbella, Sarah, Rebekah, Chelsea, and Rosie; his beloved pets Little Bird (Silky), Big Bird, Bessy, and Scrat; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston officiated by the Rev. Todd Peck. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home in Roseland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Nelson County FFA, 6919 Thomas Nelson Hwy, Lovingston, VA 22949 or Living Word Christian Fellowship, 5150 Lowesville Rd, Piney River, VA 22964. We also encourage you to buy an extra pumpkin and give it away this fall in his memory.
