Allen William "Bud" Campbell

Allen Lewis "Bud" Campbell, 84, of Amherst, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. He was the loving husband of Annabelle Cloude Campbell.

Born on July 29, 1936, in Luray, he was the son of the late Lewis William Campbell and the late Virginia Atkins Campbell. Bud retired as the Assistant Principal from Amherst County Public Schools after 32 years of service and was devoted to his staff and loved by his students. He was also a coach for many years in Amherst County and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Bud was a member of Amherst Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight Campbell and Lynn Campbell.

He leaves to cherish his memories his sweet loving wife, Annabelle Campbell; loving and devoted son, Tony Campbell and wife, Vicky; and two brothers, Thomas Campbell and wife, Tamra and Julian Campbell.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor David Clay officiating. Interment will follow at Amherst Cemetery.

Whitten Monelison Chapel is assisting the Campbell family (929-5712).

With deepest sympathy to Mrs. Campbell and family on the passing of "Coach" Campbell. I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all that knew him. "Coach" always asked us to put forth our best! I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Campbell's passing. He was the vice principal at ACHS during my four years there. He was well respected. A very kind man who was stern but fair in his discipline. He enjoyed interacting with the students and he had such a nice smile. I will be praying for his family as they go through this difficult time together.
