Andy ROWLAND Obituary
Andy Keith Rowland, 51, of Hurt, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Lynchburg General Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 5, 1957, in Lynchburg, he was a son of Anderson W. Rowland and Jean Mitchell Rowland of Hurt. Andy was predeceased by his wife, Cheryl Ferguson Rowland; his paternal grandparents, John William Rowland and Betty Eanes Rowland; and his maternal grandparents, Robert Mitchell and Irene Bailey Mitchell.
Prior to his illness, Andy was the previous owner of Jip's Diner. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and riding his motorcycle. Andy was a very loving and kind-hearted person who always thought of others. He had a strong faith in God and after battling cancer for 17 years, he is now at peace.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Tabitha Annette Rowland of the residence, who was the love of his life; one brother, Gary Rowland and wife, Robin, of Rustburg; one sister, Shelby Crist and husband, Warren, of Lynchburg; a nephew, Carrington Crawford of Lynchburg; nieces, Dara Rowland of Rustburg and Holly Crist of Lynchburg; and a special aunt, Sue Blackstock of Altavista.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Jan. 15, 2009, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of his parents, Anderson and Jean Rowland, 476 Jasper Wood Road, Hurt.
The family suggests those wishing to make memorials consider the Altavista EMS, P.O. Box 1, Altavista, VA 24517.
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, is in charge of arrangements.

Ther is saying that - GOD never gives us more burdens than we can bear.... And if thats true then GOD must think you're very, very strong because this surely has'nt been an easy time for you. I wish there were a way I could shelter you from the pain and unhappiness, becaise if there were, I would. But all I can do is keep you in my prayers. You are a child of GOD. He made you, He loves you and He will not forsake you..... that I know for sure. So hang on, keep the faith, and know that you are loved, because believe me, you most certainly are! Sorry I can't be there for you and your family.
