Anna Wheelock

Anna Frances Piotrowski Wheelock Anna Frances Wheelock, 75, died September 19, at the Summit Assisted Living in Lynchburg, Virginia. Mrs. Wheelock was born in Mabscott, WV, the daughter of the late Frances Walthall Piotrowski and the late Francis L. Piotrowski. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Wheelock, of Sweet Home, OR. Mrs. Wheelock was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV, and received a degree from the Charleston General Hospital School of Nursing in Charleston, WV. She began her nursing career at the Miner's Hospital in Beckley, WV. She later worked in San Diego, CA, where she met her husband. When they retired to Sweet Home, OR, she continued nursing in Elder Care. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Wheelock returned to the Lynchburg area. She received a B.S. Degree from Lynchburg College and went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She was an intensive Care Nurse at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg and later was a nurse for Hospice in the Lynchburg area.

Anna was a very loving and caring person and was devoted to her family. She also had a special interest in the care of the elderly. She was an avid reader with an enormous thirst for knowledge. Her inquisitive mind was always exploring new areas, including the banjo.

Mrs. Wheelock is survived by a daughter, Jeannine Bringman, Torrence, CA; sons Gregory Wheelock, Eugene, OR and Steven Wheelock, San Diego, CA; granddaughter, Jacqueline Bringman, Torrence, CA; grandson, Chase Hamilton, Los Angeles, CA; three sisters-Sara Stone, Oak Hill, VA, Ferna Williams, Brookneal VA and Patricia Bonner, Chatsworth, GA; three brothers-William Piotrowski, Charlottesville, VA, Walter Piotrowski, Locust Grove, VA and Stephen Piotrowski, Oak Hill, WV; and other very special family members and friends. The funeral service will be held at Sharon United Methodist Church in Naruna, VA at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2011. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Friday, September 23, 2011 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal and at the home of Donna and Gray Nash, 314 Airport Dr., Appomattox other times.
