August 12, 1929 - December 26, 2020
Betty Ayers Hamlet, 91, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell D. Hamlet; her parents, Ann and Alonzo Ayers; her brother, Ray Ayers; her sister, Jo Ann Metts; and her nieces, Dale and Deborah Metts.
Born in Minden, West Virginia, Betty was a life-long Lynchburg resident. She retired from Limitorque Corporation (VA Gear) payroll department after 35 years. Betty and Russell enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with friends and family, especially their grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory, are her son, Garry Faulconer (Gayna); her daughter, Brenda F. Prelewicz (Stephen); grandchildren, Sherry Ramsey, Windy Faulconer, Adrienne P. Shaub (Patrick), Michael Prelewicz, and Darcie Covington; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Adelaide Shaub; brother-in-law, Harry Metts; niece, Donna Metts; and nephew, Darryl Metts.
The family would like to thank her friends and neighbors for their companionship over the last twenty-years that allowed her to travel and remain in her home until her recent illness. Thank you to the staffs of Heritage Green Assisted Living and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their care and help maintaining our contact with Mom from a safe distance.
A private graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Virginia Memorial Park officiated by the Rev. Dr. Nancy Dawson, Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church.
