Blair Moseley Obituary

Blair Roberts Holston Moseley Blair Roberts Holston Moseley of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on August 3, 2013, at Virginia Baptist Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Blair was born in Lynchburg on August 13, 1962, to Walter Brown Holston Jr. and Nell Neubauer Holston. Blair is survived by her husband, Cary Powell Moseley and their daughter, Quinlan Lee Moseley. Also surviving are her sister, Berkley Carter Holston; niece, Ashley Grace Gardner; brother, Walter Brown "Chip" Holston, III and his wife, Suzanne; nephew, Walter Brown Holston, IV and niece, Lisa Blair Holston, all of Lynchburg. Also surviving Blair are her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Judie Garrard Moseley and Robert Powell Moseley of Danville, Va.; her mother-in-law, Judy Smith Moseley of Raleigh, N.C.; her sister-in-law and and brother-in-law, Meredith Moseley Chisholm and Chad Eric Chisholm of Raleigh, NC, and nephews, Connor MacLean Chisholm and Hayes Moseley Chisholm. Blair graduated from Seven Hills School and The University of Virginia. Blair served as Director of Operations for the Consolidated Shoe Company where she worked for over 25 years. Blair was a life-long member of The First Presbyterian Church and served on the Diaconate. Blair was a dedicated member of the Board of Directors of CASA of Central Virginia from 1998 until 2005. Blair was the inspiration and driving force for the annual CASA Heart and Sole Shoe Market for 14 years. She was also a tireless volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Virginia where she served on the Board of Directors and was voted "Big Sister of the Year." Blair was an active participant in fundraising events for The James River Day School, Lynchburg Humane Society, an avid supporter of Kids Haven and she also volunteered at The Ellington Fellowship Playhouse. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for special friends and caregivers, Judie Garrard Moseley, Ellen Cooksey, Laura Mason, Mary Horner, Leigh Doyle, Ardene Callen, Daisy Anderson, Mabel Smith, Kate Burton, Louise Mills, Kasey Williams and the staff at the Lynchburg General Hospital Oncology Unit and staff at Virginia Baptist Hospital Skilled Care Unit. Thanks to Dr. Robert Headley and all the staff of the Pearson Cancer Center, as well as Dr. Deborah Bradley, Dr. Cary Robertson and Dr. Howard Levinson as well as other physicians and staff at Duke University Medical Center. And a very special mention is here reserved for Dori Trone, RN, who was Blair's dedicated and tireless patient advocate at Duke University Medical Center. A funeral service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church at 1215 VES Road in Lynchburg. Those interested in making a memorial contribution, please consider First Presbyterian Church and the Lynchburg Humane Society. After the service, the family will receive family and friends in the Fellowship Hall and also at the home of Berkley Carter Holston, 2212 Longwood Road, Lynchburg.
