Charles Mattox

Charles David Mattox, beloved brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor, died on Monday, December 1, 2025. Charles was born on May 24, 1953 to Harriet Treakle and Travis Mattox.

He is survived by his sister, Anne Mattox Lackey; brother, Henry (Vicky); niece, Adele (Summer); nephews, Trey (Shelly) & Sam (Nadya); and great-nieces, Noel, Eliza, Lucy, Caroline, and Adele; and many dear cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bill and Paul.

Charles was committed to his family, neighbors, and home, and always encouraged us to do our best to save the beautiful earth we share. Charles graduated from Martinsville High School, attended the College of William and Mary, and graduated from VPI with a degree in Horticulture. He was last employed at the Timken Company.

Memorial contributions can be made to the following: Nature Camp Foundation Inc. P.O. Box 10542, Blacksburg, VA 24062, specify the Scholarship in memory of Harriet and Travis Mattox on your check, or donate online via their website, or make a donation to a charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be planned at a future date.
