Rev. D. Jack Hamilton

The Rev. Donald Jackson Hamilton went to his glorious home on Friday, April, 30, 2021.

Jack was born on July 2, 1932, in Athens, Georgia, to Daddy Bill and Mom Em Hamilton. He was a Disciples of Christ pastor for his entire career. He pastored Madison Heights Christian Church for 32 years and later served Fairview Christian and Euclid Christian Churches. Jack touched the lives of many and his ministry spanned the community. Jack loved everybody and they loved him. He seldom, if ever, said no when asked to minister.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Anita Hamilton and his son, William Martin "Bill" Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vivian M. Hamilton; his daughter, Sarah H. "Beth" Wright; daughter-in-law, Tracy Hamilton; three grandchildren, Andrew Blankenship, Faith Hamilton, and Travis Hamilton (Jennifer); and two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Addie Hamilton.

The family would like to say "Thanks" to the Bently Commons family and all his girlfriends for taking such marvelous care of him during his illness.

Jack will be missed forever but we know he will live forever in our hearts and soul. In almost every funeral Jack conducted, he closed with "Well done my good and faithful servant" and so do we. Thank you God for giving him to us.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Madison Heights Christian Church or a charity of your choice.

What a blessing Rev. Hamilton was to countless people for so many decades, serving God and mankind whenever he was asked. I remember his leadership as our hospital Auxiliary Chaplain, but I will always picture him having a meal at Dudleys and making everyone around him feel very special and loved. Our prayers are with you all, especially the dear wife he loved and adored. Vivian, Beth and family the comfort of wonderful memories you have will soon replace the sadness.
