January 29, 1955 - February 19, 2021
Donald Edward Wilson "Donnie", 66, of Arrington, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021, at his home. Born in Lynchburg, on January 29, 1955, he was a son of the late Arthur Frewen Wilson Jr. and Juliet Wills Gantt Wilson.
Donnie had been a plumber and worked maintenance for the Central Virginia Training Center, retiring after many years. He was a huge fan of drag racing and all things hot-rodding. Whether he was just performing routine maintenance or increasing his need for speed, one thing was for certain, he had a genuine love and respect for the track and the machine.
He is survived by his son, Adam Edward Wilson of Arrington; his brothers, Arthur F. "Butch" Wilson III (Dianne) of Arrington, and Mark L. Wilson (Janice) of Piney River; his sister, Patricia W. Wilkerson (Reginald) of Monroe; his grand pup, Cooper, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sylvia Staton Wilson.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2021, in the Wilson Family Cemetery with special remarks by Graham Watts. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home.
Out of respect for the family, we ask that those attending the service please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

It has been the pleasure and joy of our family to have known Donnie and Adam for many years and to spend time with the Grand Pup Cooper as a fun and gentle playmate beyond the wildest dreams of our dogs. Donnie, such a brilliant and funny guy and a great Dad, we will miss you but also remember you with great fondness.

I was lucky enough to have worked with Donnie @ CVTC and got a chance to see what a great man he was. He was the Plumbing Supervisor & I worked closely with him in the Maintenance office. I miss him dearly and want to extend my sympathies to his family.
