Erlene Onita Thomas Barbour

Erlene Onita Barbour, age 79, of Nathalie, passed away on October 4, 2025 in Lynchburg. She was the daughter of the late Mark Herman Thomas, Sr. and Mattie Bernice Mosby Thomas.

In addition to the death of her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Bitting; two brothers, Carl and Percy Thomas; and her nephew, Darnell Burford.

She is survived by her husband, who was the love of her life, Deacon Willie Barbour; devoted daughter, Sheronda Phillips (Lorenzo); two bonus stepsons, Shawn Patrick (Lynchburg, Va.), and Nathaniel Patrick (Lynchburg, Va.); four grandchildren - Markus White (Cathy) Lynchburg, Va., Resheka Payne, Alexandria Va., Kevin Payne Jr. (Lottie), Ft. Washington, Md., and Johnathan Payne (Andreaka), Largo Md.; nine great-grandchildren - Markus, Marquis, Mariah, Jeremiah, Zyon, Andrew, Naomi, Ja'Kari; and a bonus great-grandson Antonio; and her loving siblings, Rochella Burford, Mark Thomas Jr. (Jenn), Melody Burford (David), Charlotte, N.C.; loving sisters and brothers in-laws, Ruedeanie Barbour, Nathalie Va., Corbin Barbour (Mary), Tacoma, Wash.; Cheryl Doomes, Nathalie Va.; Leonard Barbour (Billie), Seattle Wash., and Zandra Johnson (Michael), Atlanta, Ga., and Duane McCargo, Richmond, Va.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Republican Grove Baptist Church in Nathalie with interment in the Barbour Family Cemetery in Nathalie. Public viewing will begin on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
