Frank Moorman

Frank Moorman gently passed into a life of eternity on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at his residence.

He was born May 10, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, and was the adopted son of the late Nannie and Clifton Hunt. He was educated in the Pittsylvania County public schools, and he worked for Lane Co. Furnishings and Klopman Mills combined for over 61 years. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. Frank was a devoted member of the Cook and Harris United Holiness Church of Hurt.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mamie B. Moorman; his sisters, Mary H. Gregory, Louise DeShields and Lucy Hunt; two brothers, George and Jippie Hunt; and one grandchild, Imari Moorman.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Frank C. Moorman of Hurt; one daughter, Mrs. Kathy M. Sykes (Sean) of Glen Allen; four grandchildren, David, Briel, Kayla and Kyla; one great-grandson, Shondre; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mattie Bennett of Gretna, Mrs. Geneva Payne of Hurt, Mrs. Vernell Yizar and Mrs. Euna Miller (George), both of New York, and Mrs. Stella Monroe of Altavista; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Booth of Chatham; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the chapel of Miller Funeral Home by Pastor Haywood Hunt with interment in the Cook and Harris Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Nov. 6, 2009.
