James Ello Gray Sr.
Sunday, May 13, 2007, James Ello Gray Sr., "Ello", of 126 Randolph Street, Madison Heights, departed this life at his residence. He was born Nov. 16, 1934, the son of the late George M. and Rosa A. Gray. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Catherine Gray; two brothers, George E. and John H. Gray.
He was a member of Scott Zion Baptist Church and he retired from Aerofin Corp.
He is survived by two sons, James E Gray Jr., and Terry L. Gray; three daughters, Shaunell G. Herndon, Debra D. Gray and Vanessa L. Gray; one devoted grandson, Kevin J. Herndon, all of Madison Heights; five brothers, Lloyd, William (Joyce), Ronald (Yvonne), Kenneth (Geneva), all of Madison Heights; and Larry (Patricia) of Rustburg; six sisters, Meverlene Smith (James), Everlene Davis of Lynchburg, Eunice Ware (Lawrence), Patricia Rosser (Quitman), Joyce Coleman (William) and Betty Gray, all of Madison Heights; one sister-in-law, Carrie L. Gray of Oklahoma; two aunts, Nellie Gray of New York, and Virginia Gray of Lynchburg; one uncle, Charlie Abbitt of Lynchburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Scott Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary R. Lee, officiating, Interment will be in the church cemetery. His remains will be on view at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends at the residence.
