James Acton "Uncle Jimmy" Sanderson

BEDFORD James Acton "Uncle Jimmy" Sanderson, 95, of Big Island, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, in Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on Feb. 17, 1914, a son of the late Charles Acton Sanderson and Josephine Hodges Sanderson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Todd "Lucy" Sanderson, five brothers and one sister.

Jimmy was a simple man who enjoyed life to the fullest and will be sadly missed. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

He is survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Sedalia Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Wilkerson officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Campbell's Rest Home.
