Jerry Wayne Morcom

Jerry Wayne Morcom, 81, formerly of Lynchburg, Va., passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, in Tampa, Fla. He was the husband of the late Diana Pickeral Morcom.

Born in Lynchburg on April 17, 1944, he was the son of the late Francis Melvin Morcom and Frances Marks Morcom.

Jerry was a graduate of Lynchburg College and later earned an advanced degree in banking from Rutgers University. He dedicated his professional life to a long and successful career with Central Fidelity Bank, where he was admired for his integrity, leadership, and commitment to his colleagues and customers.

Beyond his career, Jerry was a man who cherished life's simple joys. He loved playing golf and spending time at Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he made countless memories with family and friends. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity, and deep love for those around him.

He is survived by his son, Jeff Morcom and his wife, Trish; two grandchildren, Stephanie Hendricks and her husband, Brian, and Nicholas Darchiville and his wife, Rachael; and four great-grandchildren, Tripp and Vivian Hendricks, Addison and Juliana Darchiville. He is also survived by his brother, Donnie Morcom and his wife, Hilda, and his sister, Susan Brooks.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., on Friday, October 17, 2025, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with burial to follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In 1980, I was at little league baseball tryouts and got injured. He didn't hesitate to take me to the emergency room where he called my parents, waited with me until my mother came, and he checked up on me later. I always remember and am grateful for his act of kindness. May he rest in peace and condolences to the Morcom family.
