To the family... I've worked with Jocelyn for the past 3 years and will cherish the memories I have of her. I will never forget the evening Jocelyn gave me a preview of a video she was lead actor in for a project celebration. We laughed hysterically for nearly 30 minutes and were constantly wiping the tears from our faces. She was just SO silly! There were several evenings we would hang back at work and just talk... I feel blessed for those very special times of sharing. She has left her footprint on my soul.
May the Lord be with you as you reflect on her and the love you shared.

My sincere condolances to Jocelyn's family and friends. I played basketball with Joce at WVU and have several memories of her that I will cherish forever. I'm not sure who laughed more, Joce or I, that is the one memory I will always have of her. I was at the football game that Jodie Runner mentioned, and how amazing it was to hear her laugh, and giggle. She was a very special person who will be missed by all. God Bless

Dearest Bill & Laura, We are devastated by the loss of Jocelyn. We had so many fun times camping and canoeing and trips in DC acting like a crazy family of two nut job "parents" with FOUR funky kids. I have some great pictures that I will be getting together for you and I just wish I had known Joce as a woman--I remember a basketball game she was going to play in North Carolina that I was planning to attend, but there was a snowstorm and it was cancelled, so I didn't get to see her. I remember how we all tramped through the woods and Joce bent down and picked up an arrowhead that we had all walked over. Ole eagle eyes! She's up there now with my niece Holly and my brother Jeff and the other angels, but we want her still with us. Bro Bill and Laura, Sean and Matt and Susan love you and wish we could be near to console you. Joce will remain in our hearts. We are so sad.

I had the privelege to be one of Jocelyn's teammates for three years at WVU and I have many great memories of her. The last one being a few years ago when a few of us caught up at a WVU football game. We were all sitting at a table and there was a camera just laying there (thus, Jocelyn humor kicked in), so she picked it up and handed it to me. I asked her if she wanted me to take a picture of her and some of our other teammates and she smiled and said "no, just hold it up and take a picture of yourself and then I'll do the same!" After we all passed the camera around and took a picture of ourselves, we just sat there and laughed b/c we had no idea who's camera it was. Most of the memories I have of Jos ended the way that one did...we laughed til we cried. The best way I can describe how it felt to be in Jocelyn's company is simply that her love for life was contagious, right down to her smile and giggle. She had a personality that would light up any room. She will truly be missed. My deepest sympathy to her family and all her friends.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. One of the earliest memories of LIFE that I have, is Trick-or-Treating with Jocelyn in the early 70's in Morgantown. I wore a tiger outfit, and I believe she was a bunny. I think I may even have a weathered photo of it somewhere.
I was fortunate to meet her at WVU in the 90's at the Shell building and she was as kind as she could be. I wish I had the chance to know her better.

To Jocelyn's family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was a freshman on the WVU team in 1991 and had a chance to get to know Jocelyn. After graduating from pharmacy school in 1998, I relocated to Lynchburg, VA and began my career there. I was at the mall with my niece one day and heard "Hey Szymczak". I turned around to find Jocelyn with her big as ever smile. It was really nice to see her and know that there was a familiar face in a new place. We moved back to Indiana after our first child was born in Feb.2001. I still have family and many friends there. Jocelyn will be missed very much but those who had a chance to get to know her were truly blessed.

I met Jocelyn when she and my daughter, Lori became teammates and roommates while at WVU.What a great personable kid she was to be around with that devilish giggle and beautiful smile. The team Christmas parties at our house were so much fun just to watch Jocelyn eat mashed potatoes, which she said made her a better 3 point shooter.(I think it worked!)With her wit and charm, I knew that she would become a successful young woman.
To her sister Laura and family, thank you for sharing Jocelyn with us. She enriched our lives and will always be remembered with affection.

There aren't a lot of truly "good" people in the world. Jocelyn was one of those rare individuals whose conviction and strength of character had an amazing and lasting impact on those who knew her.
Jocelyn's way of always finding the best in every situation made working with her on any project enjoyable. She always brought a unique perspective to the table.
I am a better person for having worked with her and having known her as a friend.
My thoughts and good wishes are with her family and all of us whose lives she touched so positively.

To the Family of Jocelyn...
I began working with the WVU Women's Basketball program about the time Jocelyn was recruited...She was a joy to be around...I watched her mature into a fine young lady. She was a private person, but a caring person. This news saddens my heart. I pray God will comfort all of you during this grevious time. God Bless. I loved watching Jocelyn play basketball, and throughout all these years...we managed to stay in touch. She will be missed, but her memories will remain with you.

My darling little girl,
I miss you, I want to hold you. I picture the things from when you were born to the beautiful and wise woman you became. You are so caring, loving and devoted. Such a special bond we have, a mother and a child, woman to woman, friend to friend. The Lord blessed me with two beautiful beings to take care of and nurture. Jocelyn, you are my first born and I loved you from the begining and always will. So many memories noone can take like when you would visit and in the morning not quite awake I couldn't wait to hug and kiss you. I would creep into your room, jump in bed and say "good morning sunshine" and give you a kiss and a hug. You only had one eye open but the kiss was given back just the same. Give me a wink once in a while. I love you dear baby until we meet again.
Love,
Your Mom

I worked with Jocelyn in her many capacities at Genworth since 1999. During that time I observed a person who was fun, loving, cheerful, respectful, smart, brilliant and most importantly real. Jocelyn was like EF Hutton, she did not say much but when she did it was impactful!
Thank God that Jocelyn was part of my life on this earth. My life is fuller because I knew her. She will be missed but will not be forgotten!
Farewell, till we meet again.

I had the pleasure of working with Jocelyn when she first came to GE Financial. Our paths have since crossed many times over the last 8 years on various projects, and in various meetings at work. I had the pleasure..no privilege to work with Jocelyn here at Genworth. The very first project I worked on at Genworth was with Jocelyn "Green Jello" (1999). So many FUN memories. I also worked with Jocelyn on the United Way campaign and the very first (and I think last) Comedy Club held at the Holiday Inn...great thought in theory...we had some laughs over execution! She will be greatly missed. Even though I haven't spoken to her in several months, just the thought that I cannot do so any longer is difficult to imagine. I have been, and will continue to pray for her family and close friends as they look for peace among this time of lose.

I worked with Jocelyn in several capacities at Genworth, most closely on the corporate United Way campaign and later when she was a finance leader for several businesses in Lynchburg. She was bright, energetic, hard-working and a delight to all she touched. She reminded me of my daughter, Sarah, a fourteen year old basketball player with ambitions to play in college. Jocelyn and I talked about that. I once had the opportunity to introduce Sarah to Jocelyn briefly in the hall at work and distinctly remember saying to Sarah, "You'll have to talk to Jocelyn more sometime. She's someone you should emulate." I regret we never got the chance. My grief is immense, but I know it pales in comparison to that of her family and close friends. My sincere heartfelt prayers are with you.

The day I met Jocelyn one summer during softball season (1985) was the day my whole family was blessed with a bundle of love and fun. Even though Jocelyn and I played basketball for rivalry high schools, we were still close friends and both of us were selected for the "Elite Eight" team. We went to two different colleges, I at Berea College in Kentucky and Jocelyn at WVU, but we still stayed in contact. Time passed and we lost contact, but as I reflect she is still like family because of the special connection. Her jovial laugh will never be forgotten. May God bless the family members.

I got to know Jocelyn when she was a photographer at our semi-annual trail rides here in Massies Mill. Upbeat, with a sly sense of humor, she was a joy to be around. I will miss her very much and will always remember her with great fondness. She was a true gem!

To the family of Jocelyn:
I worked with Jocelyn during my three and a half years at GE Insurance in Lynchburg. She was such a blessing to so many. Always eager to lend a helping hand ... Jocelyn was instrumental as the chairperson for two of our record-breaking United Way campaigns.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and many close friends. The world Jocelyn touched was a better place because of who she was and how she interacted with those around her.
God Bless,
Mark Guthrie
