Lillie Mae Taylor O'Connor

Lillie Mae Taylor O'Connor, 89, of Big Island, passed Friday, June 11, 2010. She was the wife of the late Napoleon Bonaparte O'Connor.

Mrs. O'Connor was born January 16, 1921 in Big Island, a daughter of the late James Henry Taylor and Serena Anne Taylor. She was a member of Big Island Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Pearson Drug Store and The Rainbow Restaurant.

She is survived by two daughters, Doris Rice Duff and Ray, of Big Island, Nora Patricia Watkins and Carl Dean Watkins Sr., of Bedford; two sons, David Michael O'Connor, of Forest, and Johnny O'Connor and Carolyn, of Big Island; nine grandchildren, Danny Rice and Dona, Kay Rice-Dugger and Charles, Michelle O'Connor Harmony and Mike, Carla Watkins McClendon, Deborah Rice Padgett, Carl Dean Watkins Jr., Norma Jean Watkins McClendon, Bryan Watkins and Kristy, Denise Rice Wilkinson and David and Crystal O'Connor Roach and Larry; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Tina Carmichael.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ray "Okie" O'Connor; a grandson, Walker Daniel Rice, III.; four sisters and two brothers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today, June 13, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2010, in Big Island Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Big Island Baptist Church cemetery.
